A Blustery Winter Day in February at The Syracuse Antiques Exchange
On a crisp, blustery winter day in February, I visited one of my absolute favorite spots in Syracuse, NY—the Syracuse Antiques Exchange! This four-story treasure trove is packed to the brim with fascinating finds, and every visit feels like stepping into a time machine. Whether you’re an antique enthusiast or simply looking for a fun afternoon, the SAE is an absolute must-see!
With over 70 vendors scattered across its sprawling floors, you’ll find everything from Victorian pieces to art deco, mid-century modern to sports memorabilia, and so much more. There’s antique and vintage jewelry, clothing, artwork (from stunning oil paintings to striking sculptures), books, vinyl records, and everything you could ever imagine—furniture, lighting fixtures, decorative items, and unique collectibles. It’s a place where you’ll find the old and the funky, the rare and the nostalgic, all waiting to delight you!
The Syracuse Antiques Exchange is located at 1629 North Salina Street and is open 7 days a week. The building is wheelchair accessible, and the staff is not only friendly but also incredibly helpful. Just a heads-up—all sales are final, so be sure to browse carefully before making a purchase!
I get so much inspiration every time I visit the SAE. As an avid cookbook collector, some of my most cherished treasures are those vintage cookbooks from times long gone. There’s so much wisdom hidden within the pages of these old, dusty books. While I love the convenience of modern techniques, I truly believe there’s no substitute for the old-school methods that produce quality and flavor. These timeless recipes are an incredible reminder of how much there is to learn from the past.
Another passion of mine is vintage linens, especially aprons from the 1950s and 1960s. The patterns and designs are endlessly inspiring, and I often find myself creating my own versions of these lovely pieces that evoke a simpler, more charming time. Each item I purchase at the SAE carries an emotional connection to my family history, often reminding me of my childhood and moments when life felt simpler, carefree, and just… right.
I could easily spend hours meandering through the maze of stalls, and even then, I’d barely scratch the surface of everything to discover. The Syracuse Antiques Exchange never disappoints, and every visit leaves me with a sense of joy, nostalgia, and inspiration.
If you’re in Syracuse, make sure to stop by—there’s truly something for everyone!
